The 210MW (net) Mindanao coal-fired power plant project at the PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate in Villanueva Misamis Oriental has now become an imposing structure that boosts investors confidence in Northern Mindanao. Expected to go on commercial operation by end of 2006, the power plant will supply additional electricity to Mindanao representing 15% of the island’s total power supply. The Department of Energy forecasted that Mindanao will need additional electricity supply owing to a substantial increase in its power demand.
