News Turning Waste Into Other Economic Use STEAG State Power Inc. (SPI) Environment and Safety Officer Francis Libao (extreme left) explains how the solid wastes of the 210 MW (net) Mindanao Coal-Fired Power Plant could be turned into other economically viable and environmentally compatible use during a recent project orientation and plant visit by student leaders of Xavier University led by XU Central Student Government President Hapsah Baunto (extreme right). “The resulting solid wastes in our process of electricity generation are not totally considered as wastes in the strictest sense of the word, but solid by-products which could still be used by other firms ranging from cement manufacturing to soil conditioning additives” – Libao said.
