EU envoys laud Misor Plant
for development efforts

Villanueva, Misamis Oriental -- The European Commission to the Philippines has cited STEAG State Power Inc. (SPI) for its active involvement in social development and environmental programs.

In a visit to SPI's Mindanao Power Plant in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, European Union Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. Alistair MacDonald expressed delight on the projects implemented by SPI in support of the Philippine government's programs on social services delivery, livelihood improvement, governance and capability building, and environmental protection. He also cited the power plant's efficiency, state-of-the-art operations and substantial contribution to the economic progress of Mindanao as it helps secure for the island a stable and reliable supply of electric power.

Power supply shortage feared in Mindanao Ambassador Alistair MacDonald Ambassador MacDonald led nine other Ambassadors from the European Union in a visit to Northern Mindanao Region to look into various EU-supported programs and projects. The delegation includes Belgian Ambassador Gregoire Vardakis, Czech Republic Ambassador Jaroslav Ludva, Finish Ambassador Ritta Resch, French Ambassador Gerard Chesnel, German Ambassador Christian-Ludwig Weber-Lortsch, Netherlands Ambassador Roberth Brinks, Romanian Ambassador Valeriu Gheorghe, Spanish Ambassador Luis Arias Romero, and United Kingdom Ambassador Peter Beckingham.

The Mindanao Power Plant of SPI is one of the big-ticket foreign direct investments by a German company in the Philippines and is seen by many as an affirmation of confidence to the promising business climate in the region.
